Numbers
"The LORD is slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, forgiving iniquity and disobedience..."
— Numbers 14:18
The Reading LensEvery verse pulled to the top of a book is chosen by three questions: Where is God’s heart here? Who is He protecting? Who is being saved by the action? It marks the place where those answers come into clearest focus — a “look at this, in this book.”
About the Book
Numbers follows Israel from Sinai through forty years in the wilderness — two censuses, constant grumbling, open rebellions, and the slow passing of the generation that would not trust God to bring them in. It is the book of the long, hard middle, the wandering between promise and arrival.
The hero verse is Moses pleading for a people who deserve judgment, quoting God's own self-description back to Him: slow to anger, abundant in loving kindness, forgiving. The whole book turns on whether mercy will outlast rebellion. It does.
