2nd Samuel
"David said to Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. Nathan said to David, The LORD also has put away your sin. You will not die."
— 2 Samuel 12:13
The Reading LensEvery verse pulled to the top of a book is chosen by three questions: Where is God’s heart here? Who is He protecting? Who is being saved by the action? It marks the place where those answers come into clearest focus — a “look at this, in this book.”
About the Book
2 Samuel is the reign of David — his triumphs, the covenant that his throne would endure forever, and then the great fall: Bathsheba, the cover-up, and the long unraveling of his own house. It is an unflinching portrait of God's chosen king, flaws and all.
The hero verse is the turning point. Confronted by the prophet Nathan, David does not deny the charge or destroy the messenger — he says simply, “I have sinned against the LORD.” Repentance, not power, is what the book holds up. The consequences remain, but so does mercy.
